What image metadata does MetaRase remove?
It removes supported embedded metadata such as EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, comments, embedded thumbnails, and supported C2PA / Content Credentials containers, together with common AI workflow text.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Scanning, cleaning, and verification run in your browser. Image bytes, previews, cleaned files, and scan reports are not sent to MetaRase servers.
Does MetaRase remove GPS information?
Yes. GPS indicators are detected and removed when the image is rebuilt from its pixels.
What happens to C2PA metadata?
Supported C2PA / Content Credentials containers are detected, and rebuilding the image exports a fresh file without that container. A full cryptographic validation of every manifest is out of scope.
Does cleaning reduce image quality?
The image is re-encoded, so quality follows the export format and quality setting you choose. Composition is unchanged. Choose PNG for lossless output.
Can MetaRase remove AI generation metadata?
It removes supported file-based AI metadata such as Content Credentials, IPTC AI fields, prompt text, and workflow traces. Pixel-level watermarks such as SynthID are part of the image data and are not removed.
Which image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, and the first frame of GIF, plus AVIF, HEIC, or HEIF where your browser can decode them.
